I love seeing clients in my hometown of Vancouver. Growing up, I often found myself in a supportive role, listening to others without judgement, and being there during difficult times so they didn’t feel alone. Counselling has always felt like a very natural fit for me.
My role as a counsellor has taken me overseas to a hospital in Uganda, an experience that has enriched the work I do locally with clients from diverse backgrounds. Whether I’m working with shamans in the Amazon jungle, witch doctors in Africa, healers in Bali or clients here in Vancouver, I feel strongly that we have much to learn from one another. It is this sense of curiosity and open-mindedness that drives my practice.
When I’m not seeing clients in my private practice, I am passionate about my work as a community substance abuse counsellor in Surrey. This work involves the belief that our environment, social supports and life experiences shape our ability to cope with challenges, and that we all manage life’s struggle to the best of our ability. Many of my clients have experienced trauma, oppression, discrimination, and poverty and I strive to fully accept wherever they are on their journey and support them in whatever way will be most useful.
